About Presenters

Rebecca Green

MA, CCC-SLP

Becky Green, MA, CCC-SLP, was accepted into the University of Colorado’s Master’s program in Communication Disorders in the spring of 2010. During her two years of graduate school, she discovered many areas of interest. She was surprised to find how much she enjoyed counseling groups of families whose children had learning differences. Working with young children with autism during her externship in Fresno, California, was also a rewarding experience. After finishing graduate school, she began working in public schools with preschool to elementary-age students. She also started working with early intervention county services to provide speech and language therapy in the home for little ones. She completed a three-day training from Hanen on working with children with social communication challenges and their families. Becky is a play-based therapist and loves working language and speech learning into daily routines. A few small changes in how we interact can make communication so much easier for our little ones! A few years ago, she became interested in learning more about orofacial development—in other words, how our facial and oral development impacts speech, feeding and swallowing, and breathing. This area truly fascinates her and provides additional tools in her toolbox to work with children (and adults) who have persistent articulation issues, voice disorders, and difficulties with chewing and swallowing, which can sometimes manifest as an overly restricted diet. She loves that there is always something new to learn in her field and tries to stay on top of the latest research. Becky enjoys working with clients individually and coaching parents. She finds that parents are far more knowledgeable than they may realize. She looks forward to continuing her career as an SLP in private practice, where she can tailor therapy to each client’s needs rather than school or county mandates. She feels honored that parents place their trust in her to support their child’s development.
