Amber Lieto, MS, CCC-SLP, is a clinical fellow speech-language pathologist and PhD student at the University of Pittsburgh. She earned her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Seton Hall University and has prior experience working as an SLPA in a private school setting, along with diverse externships in public and specialized schools. Amber developed a strong passion for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) early in her career. Her mission is to improve AAC services, advocate for inclusive policies, and identify gaps in research. During her clinical fellowship, she provides specialized AAC services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her current research focuses on evaluating the feasibility and functionality of brain-computer interfaces as an access method for AAC. Amber is also actively involved in her state organization, NJSHA, where she serves on the AAC and membership committees. Her work includes developing community outreach initiatives aimed at making AAC resources and education more accessible to the public.
