Amy S. Goldman, MS, CCC/L, retired as Co-Executive Director of the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University, Pennsylvania's University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, where she was also an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological, Organizational, and Leadership Studies. Her portfolio included federal, state, and locally funded projects on assistive technology (AT), including augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Subsequently, she served as the technical assistance specialist for the eastern United States for the National Training and Technical Assistance Center for State Assistive Technology Act Programs (“AT3”), with a focus on demonstration and device lending services.
Currently, Amy is the President of the U.S. Society for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (USSAAC) and serves as USSAAC’s representative to the National Joint Committee on the Communication Needs of Persons with Severe Disabilities. She is a co-coordinator for the AAC strand for the Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) as well as its continuing education content consultant.
She is the current chair of the Pennsylvania Board of Examiners in Speech-Language and Audiology, President of the National Council of State Boards in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, and past chair of the steering committee of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (ASHA) Special Interest Group on AAC.
