Since 2011, Andrea M. Falzarano, CAE, has served as the Senior Director of Association Governance Operations for the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). In this role, she oversees ASHA’s nominations and elections process, leadership development efforts, committee, board, and council appointments, awards program, Board of Directors activities, and volunteer engagement.
Under her leadership, Andrea developed, launched, and expanded ASHA’s Leadership Development Program, Leadership Mentoring Program, and the Leadership Academy, which provides resources to all members to strengthen their leadership skills. ASHA’s Leadership Academy received the 2018 Gold Circle Award from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) for excellence in a new product/service launch campaign.
With more than 30 years of experience, Andrea’s background in association management is extensive and diverse. She has worked with multiple associations through two association management companies (AMCs) as well as individual organizations. Prior to her work with AMCs, Andrea served as Executive Vice President of the Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association and as Vice President of Association Services for the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association. Before transitioning to nonprofit work, she worked in the New York State Legislature as a Legislative Aide to the Lt. Governor and various members of the Assembly and Senate.
Andrea is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), accredited by the American Society of Association Executives. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of St. Rose in Albany, NY, and was honored with the Distinguished Member of the Year Award from the Empire State Society of Association Executives.
Andrea resides in Lovettsville, Virginia, with her husband Jim Malloy and their two mischievous dogs, Macaroni (“Roni”) and Nellie. In her spare time, she enjoys working as a glass artist, creating stained glass panels and fused glass artwork for clients, galleries, and craft shows. Unlimited
