Anne Warlaumont
PhD
Anne S. Warlaumont, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Communication at UCLA and Director of the Emergence of Communication Lab. Her research explores how speech vocalizations and communicative signals develop during human infancy, as well as the evolutionary origins of vocal behavior. Using computational modeling and naturalistic recordings, Dr. Warlaumont investigates the developmental trajectories of early communication, aiming to uncover the mechanisms that shape how infants learn to interact and express themselves. Her work bridges developmental science, cognitive neuroscience, and evolutionary theory to advance our understanding of human communication.
