Ashwini Namasivayam-MacDonald, PhD, CCC-SLP, SLP(C), is a speech-language pathologist and Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science at McMaster University. Her work centers on advancing collaborative and comprehensive approaches to dysphagia management, with the goal of improving health outcomes and quality of life for patients and their caregivers.
Her current research focuses on three key areas: (1) understanding dysphagia in older adults with dementia; (2) developing multidisciplinary interventions to preserve swallowing function in aging populations; and (3) examining caregiver burden related to dysphagia in older adults.
Dr. Namasivayam-MacDonald was honored with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s Early Career Contributions in Research Award in 2020. Unlimited
