Betsy Pilon is the Executive Director of Hope for HIE, a global nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families affected by neonatal and pediatric-acquired Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), a type of brain injury. After the birth of her son Max in 2012, Betsy discovered a lack of resources, education, and support for families navigating HIE. She connected with a small Facebook group and, beginning in 2013, led the development of the organization’s nonprofit infrastructure.
Under her leadership, Hope for HIE has grown into a comprehensive support network serving nearly 8,000 families worldwide, spanning all ages, outcomes, and causes. Betsy’s work centers on building community, advocating for equitable care, and ensuring that no family faces HIE alone. Unlimited
