Betsy Pilon is the Executive Director of Hope for HIE, a patient advocacy organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families impacted by neonatal and pediatric-acquired Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy, a type of brain injury. After her own son, Max was born in 2012, she found a lack of resources, educational information, and support, and once she found a small Facebook group, Hope for HIE, she worked to build the nonprofit side from 2013 to the present, now connecting nearly 8,000 families worldwide through a comprehensive support network, across all ages, outcomes, and causes.
