Davetrina Seles Gadson is the first African-American to graduate with a PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Georgia. She is a medical-based Speech-Language Pathologist who has presented nationally and internationally in content areas related to adult neurological rehabilitation, functional treatment approaches, and health outcomes. She currently studies neuroimaging research methods at Georgetown University School of Medicine as a postdoctoral fellow. As a clinical researcher, Dr. Gadson will explore the contribution of spared brain structures to recovery in stroke survivors with aphasia and the relationship of race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status to behavioral performance and health-related quality of life.
