Edie Hapner

Edie R. Hapner, PhD, CCC-SLP, is the George W. Barber Jr. Foundation Endowed Professor of Otolaryngology, Co-Director of the UAB Voice Center, and Director of the Division of Hearing and Speech in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. A Fellow of ASHA and Associate Fellow of the American Laryngological Association, she brings over 40 years of professional experience. Dr. Hapner co-founded three inter-professional voice centers: Emory Voice Center (2003), USC Voice Center (2016), and UAB Voice Center (2020). She has served as ASHA Board VP of Planning, SIG 3 Voice and Voice Disorders Chair, and co-chair of the 2022 ASHA National Convention. A founding member of PAVES and the Board Certification in Voice committee, she has also contributed to AAOHNS committees, the Alabama Voice Foundation, and Alabama Dystonia International. Co-developer of PhoRTE Voice Therapy, she has published 90+ peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, co-edited Voice Therapy Clinical Case Studies (editions 4–6), and developed the Medbridge voice curriculum.
