Elan Barenholtz
PhD
Dr. Elan Barenholtz, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Florida Atlantic University, where he also co-directs the Machine Perception and Cognitive Robotics (MPCR) Lab and the Visual Mind Lab. He earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from Rutgers University. His research spans human and machine perception, learning, and cognition, with a focus on how intelligent systems—biological or artificial—acquire structure and meaning from the world. Dr. Barenholtz’s work bridges cognitive science and artificial intelligence, addressing topics such as visual processing, pattern recognition, consciousness, and, more recently, theoretical models of language as autoregressive systems. Through academic research and public science communication, he explores how minds—natural and artificial—make sense of complex information. Unlimited
