Hilary Sample, MA, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist and co-founder of Communication Rescue Services. With a career rooted in inpatient rehabilitation hospitals, Hilary specializes in supporting individuals recovering from stroke and brain injury, focusing on improving communication outcomes and quality of life for people with aphasia.
A passionate advocate for health equity, Hilary works to address disparities faced by individuals with communication barriers. Her clinical insight into the patient-provider communication gap led to a collaboration with Steven Richman, MD, resulting in the development of the Medical Concerns app—an innovative tool featuring embedded supportive conversation strategies to enhance medical assessments.
Hilary is deeply committed to education and mentorship. She serves as a peer mentor, clinical fellow and student supervisor, and developer of staff competencies and training programs. She guest lectures at the graduate level and presents regularly at state and national conferences, including OSLHA, AMPRA, and ASHA.
In addition to her clinical work and leadership at Communication Rescue Services, Hilary is an adjunct professor at Cleveland State University.
