Julie Feuerstein, PhD, CCC-SLP, is an assistant professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Florida. She obtained her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Boston University and her doctorate in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington. She completed postdoctoral training in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, with an appointment at the Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Center for Autism and Related Disorders. Dr. Feuerstein is a certified speech-language pathologist who has practiced in a variety of pediatric settings, including early intervention, private practice, and both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation. Her teaching and research interests focus on evaluating the effectiveness of early communication interventions for minimally verbal children with neurodevelopmental disorders and examining ways to move empirically supported interventions into clinical practice. She currently directs the Early Communication and Play (ECAP) Lab at the University of Central Florida.
