Professor Karl Friston is a neuroscientist at University College London and one of the world’s most influential researchers in neuroscience. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society, Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences, and Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. His scientific contributions include the development of statistical parametric mapping and dynamic causal modelling, methods that have had a major influence on human brain imaging, as well as foundational work on the free energy principle, predictive processing, and active inference.
Friston is among the most highly cited neuroscientists in the world. Current AD Scientific Index rankings place him #1 worldwide in neuroscience by total citations within its Medical and Health Sciences/Neuroscience classification, with more than 414,000 citations.
