Lillian Thompson Brown, MS, CCC-SLP is a speech-language pathologist and PhD student in Northwestern University’s Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program. At Northwestern, Lillian is a member of the Early Intervention Research Group lab led by Dr. Megan Roberts. Lillian graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in CSD from the University of Central Florida and received her Master’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Howard University. Driven by personal experiences as the younger sibling of an autistic brother, Lillian has dedicated her time to volunteering and holding leadership positions in local and regional autism advocacy boards. Lillian is the former Chair of the Chicagoland Chapter of Autism Speaks Young Professionals and has helped to create autism sibling support programs in Florida and Maryland. With over a decade of experience as an SLP in diverse settings, Lillian is committed to increasing equity within the research and practice of speech pathology. As a PhD student, Lillian’s research interests include improving autism diagnostic experiences for Black caregivers, increasing timely and accurate diagnoses for Black autistic toddlers, and the implementation of culturally responsive strategies in autism assessment and intervention.
