Michelle Neilson, M.S., CCC-SLP is a Speech-Language Pathologist and Chicago suburb native. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA and holds active speech-language pathology state licenses in IL, CA, OH and TX. Michelle received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in Communication Sciences and Disorders and her Master's degree from Midwestern University (Downers Grove, IL campus) in Speech-Language Pathology. Michelle has been practicing for six years as an SLP. Over the last six years, Michelle has worked in charter schools, private schools, private practices, outpatient rehab, inpatient rehab, and acute care with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. Michelle began her career as a full-time speech-language pathologist-clinical fellow in the charter schools working with K-8 grades. She then moved to San Jose, CA, where she worked full-time in a private practice serving early intervention through adulthood with a wide range of disorders (speech, language, voice, stuttering, cognitive-linguistic) and supervising SLP-CF and SLPAs. In Cincinnati, OH Michelle worked part-time in a private practice/private school that specialized in orofacial myofunctional therapy with pediatrics and adults. While working in private practice, Michelle worked PRN at a local hospital in acute care, outpatient, and inpatient rehab with adult and geriatric populations. Her last move has brought her to Lubbock, TX, where she took a couple of months off to have her first child. After maternity leave, she worked as a PRN SLP in a hospital with adult patients. Three months into working PRN in the hospital, the outpatient clinic of the hospital was in need of an SLP to address their pediatric waitlist. Michelle is now currently working PRN in the hospital as an acute care SLP, as well as a pediatric outpatient SLP.
