Dr. Richard Noel, MD, PhD, is Division Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at Duke University. Born in Mexico City and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Noel earned his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He completed his pediatric residency at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, followed by subspecialty training in pediatric gastroenterology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he developed a strong interest in pediatric feeding disorders. Dr. Noel spent a decade at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, collaborating closely with Dr. Colin Rudolph, before joining Duke University. His clinical and academic work continues to focus on advancing care for children with complex gastrointestinal and nutritional needs.
