Richard Schoeberl

Dr. Richard Schoeberl, PhD, is a seasoned law enforcement professional with over 25 years of experience, including distinguished service with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC). His career has spanned roles such as Supervisory Special Agent at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and Unit Chief of the International Terrorism Operations Section at NCTC Headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
Prior to these leadership positions, Dr. Schoeberl worked as a Special Agent investigating violent crime, human trafficking, international terrorism, and organized crime. During his FBI tenure, he also served as a certified instructor and member of the agency’s SWAT program.
Beyond federal service, Dr. Schoeberl is an accomplished author and media contributor, appearing on Fox News, CNN, PBS, NPR, Al-Jazeera Television, Al Arabiva Television, Al Hurra, and Sky News in Europe. He has published numerous scholarly articles and serves as a Peer Mentor with the Police Executive Research Forum.
Currently, Dr. Schoeberl is a professor of Criminology and Homeland Security at the University of Tennessee–Southern and collaborates with Hope for Justice, a global nonprofit dedicated to combating human trafficking.
