Samantha Shune, PhD, CCC-SLP, is an Assistant Professor and Program Director for the Communication Disorders and Sciences Program at the University of Oregon. Her research and clinical work focus on the effects of healthy and pathologic aging on the physiologic and psychosocial aspects of swallowing and mealtimes. Dr. Shune is particularly interested in how shared food-related activities can serve as therapeutic opportunities to enhance quality of life for older adults and their social networks, including family members and caregivers. Her work bridges clinical science with human connection, emphasizing the role of mealtime in fostering well-being. In addition to her research, Dr. Shune teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in medical speech-language pathology and leads a community-based support group for individuals with swallowing disorders. Her career reflects a deep commitment to aging populations, interdisciplinary care, and community engagement.
