Shelly Ryan, PT, CLT-LANA, is a Board-certified Physical Therapist and Head and Neck Lymphedema Specialist at Mercy Hospital–St. Louis, Missouri, located within the David C. Pratt Cancer Center. With over 30 years of experience across acute care, outpatient, long-term care, home health, and wound care settings, Shelly has built a distinguished career in rehabilitation and lymphedema management.
Since 2001, Shelly has specialized in lymphedema treatment, earning certification from the Dr. Vodder School of Lymphology in 2003, LANA certification in 2010, and STAR certification in oncology rehabilitation in 2012. Her clinical focus since 2011 has been exclusively on head and neck lymphedema, where she played a pivotal role in developing both inpatient cancer pathways and outpatient therapy programs at Mercy Hospitals.
Shelly’s expertise has been recognized nationally. In 2016, she was consulted by Tactile Medical in the development of their Flexitouch head and neck garments, and she co-authored the first peer-reviewed feasibility study on advanced pneumatic compression for head and neck lymphedema, published in *Head & Neck Journal* (September 2017). She also contributed to the design of the Medi Circaid Reduction Kit for head and neck applications.
A passionate educator, Shelly frequently serves as a guest lecturer and consultant at conferences, seminars, and support groups, sharing her knowledge to advance clinical practice and patient care in lymphedema therapy. Unlimited
