Tabia Pope, PhD, CCC-SLP, Certified Sports SLP™, is a three-time alumna of Howard University’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and a nationally recognized expert in traumatic brain injury, sports concussion management, neuropsychology, and health communications. She is the founding President & CEO of Head to Speech, Incorporated—the nation’s leading nonprofit dedicated to athlete brain health and the impact of sports concussions on speech-language, hearing, and cognitive communication skills.
Dr. Pope developed Head to Speech’s Career Pathways program as part of the 2023 ASHA Leadership Development cohort, advancing workforce development in athlete brain health and sports concussion management. In 2024, she launched the Academy of Certified Sports Speech-Language Pathologists™, an online educational community and certification program that sets evidence-based standards for service delivery and practice in athletics, sports, and fitness.
She is a Clinical Instructor of Speech-Language Pathology at the University of the District of Columbia and co-coordinator of the B.R.A.I.N. Lab, where she mentors students in interprofessional education, simulation, research, and community outreach. Dr. Pope also hosts Masterclasses on the Head to Speech Ambassador Podcast and guides Ambassadors in producing episodes that raise awareness in their communities.
Her work has been featured on NBC, CBS News, Fox, and multiple sports and brain health platforms. She is the author of *Brain Health Prehab*, published in *Significance in Athletics and Sports Magazine*, and her podcast series *On the Neuro* and presentation *Return-to-Learning After Sports Concussion* have earned 5-star reviews through Speech Therapy PD.
Dr. Pope serves on the Leadership Council for the Sports Philanthropy Network (Washington, DC Chapter). She is married to a retired international professional basketball player and is the proud mother of two sons who are active in sports and recreation. Unlimited
