Vicki R. Deal-Williams, MA, CCC-SLP, FASAE, CAE, is the Chief Executive Officer at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), where she has been on staff for more than 30 years. A Certified Association Executive and Fellow of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), Vicki is also an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist and ASHA Fellow. Vicki’s expertise and thought leadership includes strategically advancing and leveraging diversity, leadership development, facilitation and group process, conflict resolution, evaluating and enhancing performance and recruiting and retaining underrepresented populations. Vicki is one of the architects of ASHA’s strategic management system and the executive champion for ASHA’s Strategic Pathway to Excellence. She has contributed significantly to conversations within the association industry about the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in Associations and nonprofit management. Vicki has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and the Chair of their Diversity and Inclusion Committee. She has also served as a facilitator and content leader in programming for Association professionals seeking the Certified Association Executives (CAE) credential and leadership development. She is also currently a member of NIH’s National Deafness and Other Communication Disorders Advisory Council. Vicki has received numerous awards for her contributions including the Honors of NSSLHA, the Diversity Incentive Award from the Council for Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD), ASHA’s Outstanding Service Award, the M. Eugene Wiggins Leadership and Scholar Mentor Awards from the National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing (NBASLH), and the Professional Performance Award from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). She received both her Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Northwestern University.
