William Farnham
MS, SLP
Will Farnham, MS, SLP, has been practicing as a speech-language pathologist in medical settings across the continuum of care—including acute care, inpatient rehab, skilled nursing, and outpatient venues—since 2012, for the entirety of his career to date since completing his M.S. at Western Kentucky University. He has served as the principal acute care SLP at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast since 2022, and has had the opportunity to serve as an internal subject matter expert for multiple local and national mission-wide initiatives, most recently including extensive participation with the facility's Stroke Committee to establish the hospital as a Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Center. Will holds multiple certifications, both generally as well as in diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, but believes weaning ourselves from a certification-focused mindset in favor of fostering targeted clinical and critical reasoning is the best path forward for the field. He routinely mentors SLP students, new graduates/clinical fellows, and colleagues. He has appeared as a guest on multiple med SLP-focused podcasts. Will is inauspiciously most widely known as the sole proprietor of the meme page Hard to Swallow across multiple social platforms, where he shares clinically focused original jokes. When not at work or chronically online, Will enjoys a variety of podcasts, middle-distance running (and staring!), running production technology at his church, and spending quality time with his wife and daughter.
